3 Ways to Support Your Skin This Winter
As the cold snap comes to an end (for now!), you may be feeling the effects of the most recent deep freeze on your mood, your energy levels, and most likely, your skin.
When the temperature plummets, humidity goes with it and when you combine this with more time spent indoors, less sun exposure, and less physical activity, your hormones are affected and thus your skin responds with dryness, redness, blemishes, enlarged pores, and a dull complexion.
Fret not though, I’m here to help! Dry, dull, or acne-prone skin can be signs of hormonal shifts and nutritional imbalances and I have just the solutions to shift you back into radiance...
1. Probiotics for Skin & Gut Health
A balanced gut microbiome supports hormonal harmony and clear skin. Incorporate probiotic-rich foods like yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, and kombucha into your diet, or consider a high-quality supplement(s). In our house, we rotate between a few of our faves to ensure we’re getting broad coverage of probiotics. Our favourites are:
2. Hydration for a Radiant Complexion
Cold weather and indoor heating can dehydrate your skin. Drink plenty of water and add in electrolytes to help give hydration a boost! My fave electrolyte mix is from LMNT, but you can also use their recipe to make your own.
3. EWG-Approved Clean Skincare & Supplements
Choose non-toxic skincare products that work with your hormones, not against them. Shaklee’s science-backed, EWG-approved skincare products provide safe, effective nourishment to support your winter glow. You can view my favourite “Dry Skin Skincare Products” here.
Take Action! Take a moment to drink a full glass of water, order a few skincare products that will help nourish your parched skin, and explore some wellness solutions to help you radiate from the inside out.
Winter doesn’t haven’t to drag you down with its temperatures…it’s time to rise and shine!
✨ Cheers to a glowing complexion, bright demeanour, and uplifted energy levels! ✨
